Gluteal Tendinopathy (Tendonitis)
Gluteal tendinopathy is when the tendons that connect the glute muscles to the hip bone become irritated or inflamed. It causes pain on the outside of the hip, especially when walking, climbing stairs, lying on the side, or standing for long periods.
Gluteal Tendinopathy (Tendonitis)
Causes and Risk Factors:
- Overuse of the hip muscles, often from walking, running, or standing too much
- Weak glute or core muscles, putting more strain on the tendons
- Sudden increase in activity, like starting a new workout
- Poor posture or body alignment, especially when walking or standing
- Previous hip injuries or surgeries
- More common in women over 40, especially those with hip arthritis or tight hip muscles
What Happens If Left Untreated?
If not treated, gluteal tendinopathy can cause ongoing hip pain, weakness, and difficulty walking, standing, or sleeping, and may lead to more serious tendon damage.
How Premier Care Can Help:

- Postural Training: Teaching you how to stand, walk, and move without putting pressure on the tendons
- Customized Recovery Plan: Step-by-step care to restore strength and prevent future flare-ups
