Tendonitis (Biceps or Triceps Tendonitis)

Tendonitis is when the tendons connecting muscles to bones become swollen or irritated. Biceps tendonitis affects the front of the upper arm near the shoulder or elbow, while triceps tendonitis affects the back of the upper arm near the elbow. This causes pain, swelling, and weakness, especially when lifting or straightening the arm.

Causes and Risk Factors:

  • Overuse of the arm, especially from lifting, pushing, or throwing
  • Repetitive arm movements, common in sports or physical jobs
  • Sudden increase in activity, like starting a new workout routine
  • Poor lifting technique or posture, which adds stress to the tendons
  • Tight or weak muscles, making tendons work harder than they should

What Happens If Left Untreated?

If not treated, biceps or triceps tendonitis can lead to chronic pain, reduced strength, and limited arm movement, making it hard to lift, carry, or do daily tasks.

How Premier Care Can Help:

  • Manual Therapy: Hands-on care to relax tight muscles and reduce tendon irritation
  • Therapeutic Exercises: Gentle stretches and strengthening to help the tendon heal and prevent re-injury
  • Pain Relief Treatments: Ice, heat, ultrasound, or electrical stimulation to reduce pain and swelling
  • Posture and Movement Tips: Teaching better ways to lift and move safely
  • Support and Bracing if Needed: To rest the tendon and protect it during recovery
